Baule comb with royal figure

€0.00

Baule people

Ivory Coast

Mid. XX century

H. 32 cm

This comb was originally made in Ivory Coast to be used to style hair. A comb can sometimes be worn as a decorative addition when inserted in both men’s and women’s hair. Fine hair inserts are considered a luxury and many become treasured items that are passed down through the generations. A Baule comb can also be used to prepare hair before being styled by straightening entangled strands. Each comb is accented with a unique etching pattern on both sides that was personally done by the individual that made the comb. This not only adds a bit of diversity in design, but also makes every Baule comb a unique one of a kind object.
